Mixed Media Tag

This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and it's hard to believe that it is already half way through the year.   This is the 6th tag in what I hope will be a 12 tag series.  The theme for this month was "Embossing".  You could use heat embossing or embossing plates, so I decided to use both.  I really wanted the simple elegance of using all white, so I decided to make this pretty tag.

Here's what I used:
3 Girl JAM Dress White ribbon (found here)
Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (Pages 55 and 50)
Cuttlebug "Geometric Rings" embossing folder
Tim Holtz Embossing Diffuser
Adirondack pearl paint dabber
Versamark ink pad and marker
Stampin' Up "Blue shell" embossing powder

Be sure to head over to DJ's Sundries for more projects, tips, and ideas.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Quick Mini Journal

Good morning everyone.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I hope you are having a great day.  I also really hope that you aren't sick of seeing altered notebooks from me.  There is actually a little story behind this one.  I have been a bit swamped lately and running behind in projects that I need to get done.  Friday morning for the real world was actually "Monday" for me.  It was day 1 of 3 days of 12+ hour shifts.  My plan was to come home Friday night and get the project for today made and posted.  I had a general plan on what I was going to make until I made it home that night.

I have been shadowed by a nursing student during 6 of my last 9 shifts.  She is a great student and I think she will make a fabulous nurse.  She is very organized and always has a little spiral notebook for her notes.  On Friday I realized that she didn't have her notebook and we were using notebook and scrap paper all day for her notes.  When I asked about it, she mentioned that she had forgotten it at home.  When she spends her shifts in my town, she doesn't go home, but stays here.  I knew I had to switch up my original posting plans and make her a little book.  She loved it so I was really glad it worked out that way.

Though you can barely see it, I used gorgeous "Aqua Splash" ribbon to cover the binding.

Be sure to head over to DJ's Sundries and check out what is going on right now.  I have some fun stuff that you might be interested in seeing.  Also be sure to check out the 3 Girl JAM challenge blog that is "All About Summer"

Mini Message Boards

Good morning.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I hope you are having a wonderful day and enjoyed a good weekend.  I was so inspired by Scrappin' Abby's Memo Board last week that I wanted to make some of my own.  I decided to use some great 3 Girl JAM ribbon to make them just my style.

The new Flair and Flower Bundle were just what I needed to make my little boards.  All I had to do was add some extra ribbon from the new Tie Dye 1 and Tie Dye 2 bundles to make them perfect for my treasures.

I started out by purchasing some cork tiles from my local Joann's store.  These were 12 inch tiles, but I wanted circles.

So I set up the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut a circle to use as a pattern.  Using fit-to-page, I was able to create a pattern to use to cut my circles.  I then took some muslin to cover the cork by using hot glue to adhere it to the back.  Next came the fabulous flower ribbon for decoration and a hanger.  I decided to do each one a little differently for more variety.

Using ribbon from each Tie Dye bundle, I made little bows to adhere to the front.  Flair finished off the center of each bow perfectly.  If you look close, you can see that I used Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, and Dusty Concord Distress Inks around the outer edges to add a little punch of color.  Each one was finished by adding a piece of card stock to the back of each to hide all the fabric and ribbon edges.

I now have the perfect place to add my treasures using my collection of stick pins.  This was actually a pretty simple project and I can't wait to get them all hung and filled.

If you are interested in a video that may give a better view, head on over to DJ's Sundries.  In the meantime, be sure to pick up your own ribbon and flair in the 3 Girl JAM store.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Heartfelt Watercolor Tag

This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I have been learning how to use watercolors as well as using ink pads and markers to add a watercolor effect on projects.  I am having so much fun using these techniques on different projects.  As I was waiting on another project to dry a bit, I decided that I wanted to use watercolor techniques to create this little tag for my husband.  It was made from a piece of left over Strathmore Watercolor Paper (90#) and Distress Inks.  Of course 3 Girl JAM ribbon finished it off beautifully.  It took just a few minutes to make and was the perfect compliment for a little "I love you" gift.

Items used:
3 Girl JAM Aqua Splash and Dress White crinkle ribbons
Strathmore Watercolor paper (90#)
Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Inks
Tim Holtz Heartfelt stamp set
Sequins from Mainstays (Walmart brand)
Tim Holtz tiny attatcher
Memento Tuxedo Black ink

Don't forget that there is still time to enter the "Anything Goes with Ribbon" challenge at 3 Girl JAM.  You could win some delicious 3GJ Crinkle Ribbon for yourself.  Click on the ribbon names above to be taken directly to them in the 3 Girl JAM store.  These are perfect colors for summer crafting.

Are you interested in seeing a video about this sweet little tag or perhaps some more watercolor projects?  Head on over to DJ's Sundries to see what's going on over there.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

"I Love You Berry Much"

Good morning.  I really hope you had a great Mother's Day.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and mine was berry good - even though I worked.  I wanted to share a sneak peak of the gift I made for my grandmother.  I know it looks like a card, and it is a card, but it is the card that goes with the large set of cards that I made to send to her.  I think it will be the perfect gift for a person who has nearly everything she really wants.  Have you ever though of using cards as gifts?  Think about it, nearly everyone sends cards or notes to their friends and families.  Cards can be quite expensive, so a package of ready made cards can really be helpful to an elderly person on a fixed income.  Of course, any card can be more special when you add some 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon.  I grabbed the pink ribbon from the brand new Tie Dye 2 bundle to make mine special.

Does special have to mean complicated or time consuming?  Absolutely not!  Though you can spend lots of time making something beautiful, sometimes you can whip it together with just a few simple supplies, a little bit of time, and a whole lot of love.  I used the supplies from a card kit from SEI, some ATG, foam tape, and the gorgeous ribbon and put this together.

Have you entered the May challenge on the 3 Girl JAM challenge blog yet?  This month is "Anything Goes with Ribbon" and we really mean anything goes.  Head on over here to check out the rules and then head to the 3 Girl JAM store to stock up on ribbon and flair to make your own great projects.  Be sure to use the code "CP10" to get a great discount.

Interested in seeing the rest of the cards I made in the set?  I believe there are 22 more.  Just head over to DJ's Sundries and check out the video that shows all of them.

Watercolor Tags

This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I have recently discovered that I like playing with watercolors.  It is fun and challenging.  I have so much to learn and am actually taking a couple of classes in using them.  I am participating in a swap that requires watercolors, so I was excited to get started.  Of course, lots of 3 Girl JAM goodies were the perfect compliment for all the watercolors.

Summer sprinkles and gorgeous 3GJ lace were perfect for this first tag.  Other supplies will be listed below.

This tag was also made with gorgeous 3 Girl JAM lace, but the bold, bright colors called for bold ribbon colors, so I used Cherry Lipstick and Sunflower.

This final tag was made with more lace coupled with the Spooky bundle.  The muted colors remind me of a flower peering through a storm.

Other supplies:
Strathmore watercolor paper
Fancy Pants "Lavender Leaves" paper
Tim Holtz Cargo Stencil
Studio Calico Huey's Mask
Art Philosophy Tag #3 cut at 6.25"
Artist's Loft Modeling Paste

Mixed Media Tags

Earlier, I saw a friend post a very good question on Facebook.  Did March come in like a lion or a lamb?  It's been a bit difficult to tell for sure with the odd weather that we've seen.   This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and  I think its definitely time for some more "calm" in my daily activities.  This set of tags had to include metal of some kind and I wanted to throw in some alcohol inks.  Even though I wasn't using glossy paper, I felt like I needed to try these.  I used quite a few other products and tried some new-to-me techniques.  Throw in some gorgeous 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon - in this case  goblin green and iris  - and you are good to go.

This is actually a pretty short post as I am running a bit late and wanted to get it to you.  I hope you enjoy the video.
Have a great day.

Hanging Hearts

I know that Valentine's Day is over but there's always room to spread a little more love, right?  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and that's exactly what I'm going to do.  A touch of 3 Girl JAM Merlot crinkle ribbon was the perfect accent for the pretty hearts and my current favorite "love" paper.

 Supplies:
3 Girl JAM Merlot Crinkle Ribbon (Don't forget to use the code "CP10" to receive a discount on your 3 Girl JAM orders)
Fancy Pants Love Note 6X6 paper pad
June Berry smooth cardstock by Core'dinations
It's Valentine's stamp set from K. Andrew Designs
Color Box terra cotta ink
Clear embossing powder
Stardust clear glittering ink
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge
Fiskars Hearts punch

I love the weight and texture that is achieved when you add multiple layers to a card.  It makes it feel so luxurious.  This 6X6 card was perfect for my husband since I didn't need to mail it.  No worries about having an envelope.  However, you can always make one if you need to mail it.

I actually did a tutorial of this card if are interested.  Just head over to DJ's Sundries by clicking here to view it.  Don't forget that you can enter your own "love" card in the current 3 Girl JAM challenge.  Just click here to read all about it.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Delicate and Dainty Doilies

This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I'm so happy to be sharing this altered art project with you.  I'm sure you have noticed that there is no ribbon on this project and you may be wondering why it is posted on the 3 Girl JAM blog.  The answer is simple - 3 Girl JAM has gorgeous hand dyed lace that will be coming soon and I wanted to give you a sneak peek.  I used 2 of the different laces on today's project.  Julie has also added new Valentine's Flair in the store so be sure and check it out.

I used quite a variety of products on these little pieces of art, but they are actually fairly simple to make.  If you would like to alter some doilies similar to mine, you can use the products posted below.

3 Girl JAM lace
Wilton - 6 inch doilies
"Cherub Pink" Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
Distress Ink - Pumice Stone, Victorian Velvet
Studio G glitter glue
Petaloo Celebrations flowers
Fancy Pants 6X6 paper - Love Notes
Tim Holtz Seasonal Paper Stash
Recollections Clear Plastic paper
Prima Say It In Pearls - pink
Jolee's Boutique dual tone prizm
Want2Scrap pearl bling

You & Me Anniversary Card

Good morning everyone.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries.  I am so happy that you chose to stop by today. Have you ever had one of those projects that changed completely after you got started?  That kind of happened to me with this card.  I had planned to use some 3 Girl JAM Merlot ribbon on the front of the card, but when I went to grab it, I had used all of mine up.  No worries, I already let Julie know that I need more.  Instead, I used some of the new Jute ribbon in the same color.  I think I like the finished project even better.  It definitely looks more masculine than a soft ribbon bow would have looked.

Supplies:
3 Girl JAM Jute ribbon (get yours here)
Fancy Pants "Love Note" 6X6 paper pad
Core'dinations "Juneberry"smooth card stock
Echo Park "Your's Truly" sticker set
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge
Crystal Stickles
Foam tape

Altered Jar

Good morning.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I really hope you are all staying warm and cozy.  Today I have an altered jar to share with you and I hope you see how easy it can be to make a quick gift container.  If you look closely, you can see a little tiny bit of the brand new Red Ribbon Candy ribbon.  It is absolutely beautiful!  Even the pictures can't prepare you for the stunning beauty of this bundle.

I started by finding this tiny jar at my craft store.  I then searched my Pinterest boards to find those posts that I saw last spring and summer on coloring jars.  Once the clear jar was turned to pink, I was ready to grab some items from my stash, my glue gun, and some paint and go to work.  I will have a complete list of supplies and a video on my blog - DJ's Sundries.  You might be surprised to find how much you can fit into those little jars.  I packed this one pretty full.  There's even a surprise on the bottom of the lid that you can only see by viewing the video (because I forgot to take a picture).  This little beauty was designed for someone who likes pink, but can you imagine how adorable it would be in Christmas colors?

Speaking of Christmas, are you ready to hop along with the design team and guest designers tomorrow?  We have a special 3 Girl JAM Holiday Blog Hop that is starting right here.  I can't wait to see all these projects that will feature the brand new items in the 3 Girl JAM store.  There's going to be some pretty great candy up for grabs too.  See you soon.

Good morning everyone.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries.  Fall crafting is winding down, but I still have some things to post.  Today I have a tag that I made to go with a swap I am doing.  I really hope my swap partner likes it as much as I do.  3 Girl JAM has perfect ribbon for all those fall crafts we love to do.  I used Halloween Harvest and Sunflower for this pretty little tag.

Recollections flowers and leaves
Prima "Say it with Crystals" bling
Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Lace (from my stash)

"Thanks" Mini Cards

Good morning everyone.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries.  I don't know about you but I have to say that fall is greeting me with its nippy mornings.  I miss the summer, but I do love the beauty of the fall and the warmth I feel snuggled into my craft room.

My 14 year old son is a newspaper carrier.  Last year I made little thank you cards for everyone on his route and he signed them and included them in one of the newspapers in November.  I decided that he should carry out this tradition this year for each of the 60 or so people on his route.  These cute little cards fit the bill perfectly.  I used some Halloween Harvest, Merlot, and Sunflower 3 Girl JAM ribbon to add a special touch to these little beauties.

I also used:
Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge
Core'dinations Safari 12X12 paper
DCWV - Autumn Melody Matstack
Paper Trey Ink - Vintage Cream card stock
ATG

Spools & Stickpins

Good morning everyone.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I am loving the fall weather.  Today was gorgeous and full of sunshine.  The leaves are falling and wonderful warm color surrounded me.

The warm tones were the inspiration for today's project and 3 Girl JAM provides just the right ribbon to complement that.  The Harvest Bundle is perfect for autumn crafting.  You can find yours here.

In the last year or so, I have really enjoyed making stickpins.  I am gathering quite a collection of these little beauties.  When I have the opportunity to enter a stickpin swap, I try to do so.  When the opportunity came to alter a spool and add stickpins, I knew it would be a lot of fun and I needed to join.

Of course, I needed a few supplies to go with the gorgeous 3 Girl JAM ribbon.
Spools (from Michaels)
Recollections flowers and adhesive rhinestones
Tim Holtz Ideology tissue wrap
Ripe Persimmon, Gathered Twigs & Seedless Preserves Distress Inks
Lace, stick pins, charms and beads from my stash
Delta Ceramcote - Light Ivory
Mod Podge, Hot Glue, Glossy Accents

If you would like to see a video where I talk you through the project with a bit more explanation, please go to DJ's Sundries by clicking here.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Teddy Bear Baby

Good morning everyone.  This is Cheri from DJ's Sundries and I have a little card for a co-worker to share with you today.  I wanted to make her something unique but also pretty.  3 Girl JAM had the perfect combination of ribbons, though I used pieces from 2 different bundles.  Iris from the Spring Flowers bundle and Baby Girl from the Baby bundle paired beautifully to pull this card together.

Now I realize that the picture looks a bit fuzzy and I was bummed about that at first.  Then I realized that the vellum overlay was causing that look.  It makes the card feel soft and ready for baby.

Besides the gorgeous 3 Girl JAM ribbon that is linked in the bundles above, I used a few other products.  They are:
Prisma colored pencils
Cardstock - white from Paper Trey Ink and Georgia Pacific
Colored paper - from my stash (unsure of the manufacturer)
Memento Tuxedo Black and Dusy Concord Distress Ink
Vellum from my stash
Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals
Inkadinkadoo "Welcome Baby" stamp set
Blossom twine from The Twinery

For more information on the specific Prismacolors used and a short video, please head over to DJ's Sundries by pressing here.  Thanks for stopping by and remember to take some time to enjoy the little things today.
